Bulgarian is a South Slavic language. Besides the Republic of Bulgaria, native speakers of this language live in several other countries including Turkey, Ukraine, and Russia. The Bulgarian alphabet is similar to the Russian, which makes it look deceptively easy to process for native Russian speakers. But as part of the Balkan sprachbund, Bulgarian has several characteristics that set it apart from other Slavic languages.
