When you have multilingual files containing mixed-language content and low-quality drawings — where calculating exact word counts for translation is nearly impossible — you don’t want delays or guesswork. You want a quick, accurate quote and a clear plan. That’s exactly what InText brings to the table.
The task: On paper, the task was clear: translation and DTP of an instruction set into one target language. In practice, hidden complexities turned it into a real project management challenge.
The challenge: Making accurate word counts and estimating turnaround time was especially difficult since the project involved large texts written in several languages with different text volumes per file. Adding to the complexity, one of the files contained three languages in parallel but had to be recreated in a version with a single target language.
Languages: English, German, Dutch → Ukrainian
In numbers: 4 files, 1.4K pages, 69.4K words, 85 DTP hours, 7 linguists, 13 DTP specialists
Our solution:
• Manually analyzed content types and their distribution across source languages
• Estimated the approximate volume of each language per file and calculated translation time based on page counts for quoting
• Organized a separate workflow and team for each document and language pair
The result: The client received a reliable quote without delay and a unified, consistent instruction set in Ukrainian despite the original files’ complexity.
Such cases require extra attention at the planning and coordination stages, and this particular project highlights our ability to manage complex files and deliver the expected results.
If you have a project that’s giving you a headache, send your files to InText — we’ll take care of them.
